Occupying 12 acres at 3401 West Gilbert Street in Muncie, West View Elementary was originally built in 1953 with two wings and a total of 11 classrooms. Since then, the building has had multiple additions and renovations, including an $11.5 million project in 2024 that added more classrooms, offices and staff gathering space. Tremendous community support has been a hallmark of the school since its incepetion, and it continues today. West View is the home of the district's highly acclaimed dual language Spanish immersion program, an in-depth English-Spanish curriculum that begins in kindergarten, enabling students to develop proficiency in both languages.
